Detailed description of the orchard

The apricot orchard is located close to the Serbian-Hungarian border, in the Gyálarét area of Szeged, on low-lying meadow soil, planted in several phases between 2017 and 2022.

Since planting, the orchard has not been treated with any systemic (absorbable) crop protection products, and since 2024 with no other pesticides whatsoever. No chemical herbicides (e.g. glyphosate) are used; weed control and mowing are done purely mechanically.

The orchard is equipped with drip irrigation, which was in continuous operation from April 1 to September 30 in both 2025 and 2026 due to extreme regional drought and soil water deficits exceeding 100 mm.
